Summer Discovery
Discovering Purpose
Here are the questions to ask yourself to begin discovering your purpose!
Get Curious About Yourself
Spend time learning who you are beyond roles or expectations.
Reflect on:
What lights you up? What brings you joy, energy, or a feeling of flow?
What breaks your heart? What injustice or problem in the world deeply moves you?
What are you good at? What comes naturally to you or what do people ask for your help with?
Try journaling or free-writing on these prompts:
“I feel most alive when…”
“If I weren’t afraid, I would…”
“I lose track of time when I’m…”
Follow the patterns
Look at the patterns in your life, your interests, struggles, values, and pivotal moments.
Ask yourself:
What have I always been drawn to, even as a kid?
What experiences have shaped me the most?
What values do I keep coming back to, no matter the job or relationship?
Often, your purpose is already linked to your story. You just have to follow the pull!
Think Beyond Yourself
Purpose usually involves some form of contribution to others or the world.
Consider:
Who or what do you feel called to serve?
What problem do you feel uniquely positioned to help solve?
What kind of impact do you want to leave behind?
